What Does it Mean to Surrender?

by | Jul 1, 2025

When we’re accessing the mind from Effortless Being, we’re actually allowing Infinite Intelligence to come through into the way the mind functions, so then the mind isn’t dominated by individual concerns. When this occurs, there’s a kind of surrender.

But it isn’t that the individual surrenders, it’s just that surrendering happens

This is when it’s seen that our true nature is Effortless Being. We can just totally relax into that, and from there we can function much more effectively because there isn’t any sort of individual motivation. We’re in service to our Infinite Nature rather than in service to our individual nature. That’s when we can become most effective.

In biblical terms we could say that this self-realization is the return to the Garden of Eden: Eating the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil is actually having a game with the individual mind because the individual mind is a dualistic instrument. It’s always based on things like right and wrong, or good and evil, or deciding that this is really good, or I do like you and I don’t like you. All of that dualistic stuff is where all of the problematic experiences reside.

But when we just rest as our effortless nature–and we’re not predominantly functioning from the mind–then we’re back in the Garden of Eden, which is when infinite intelligence begins to orchestrate things on an experiential level.

That’s when life becomes amazing: Infinite Love comes in, infinite intelligence comes in, synchronicity comes in, compatibility comes in. Everything just comes to us when surrendering happens as we relax into effortless being.
