The Deep Investment in Suffering

by | Jul 29, 2025

If you have a deep investment in the idea of suffering, then there’ll be more of it because there’s more of that resonance that comes in. This is the case whether you’re holding onto the idea of suffering on a conscious or a subconscious level.

When you make the apparent choice to see things in a different way, you realize that you’re kind of looking at history, as what we’re experiencing has to do with the beliefs that we’ve held. When we actually change the beliefs that we’re holding, quite often there’s the resolution to that suffering. It can be in terms of a witnessing quality, but it can also be on a practical level.

You will see that the scenery around you where the suffering is appearing actually changes. Ultimately what you realize is that there is nothing happening anyway. it’s only when we’re entering into the dream or into the waking state there appears to be suffering, and there appears this story is going on.

It needs to be realized that we’ve invested a particular kind of perspective because what we ultimately are is a field of infinite possibilities, and one of the possibilities is to experience suffering. Because consciousness will whip up whatever we wish to experience it, will present it to us in a way that is most convincing and most believable, So, we can have that full experience of suffering.

Actually, on one level–not as the individual, but in terms of an expanded, causal level–that suffering is there because there’s some level on which we’ve invested in it. One might say well there’s nothing you can do about the suffering, but what i’ve noticed, on a practical level, is when you withdraw the investment in suffering, then it actually begins to dissipate.

This is something that can change when you withdraw the idea of there being suffering. If suffering is a part of one’s experience then it’s as fluid as it is with happiness. So, you can introduce more happiness.

There are levels at which there seem to be kind of programming that comes in that is predetermining certain limitations of experience. But within this story, there also appears to be the opportunity to amend the programming to some degree, and quite often it depends on the sense of will that you get. if you feel that there’s nothing you can do, well, there’ll be nothing you can do.

What I’ve noticed is sometimes there’s this absolute power that comes in, and no matter how big that obstacle appears, it just gets smashed out of the way because this almighty Infinite will (which isn’t the will of the individual) comes in and it just absolutely decimates suffering.

Let’s discuss this further in our next online event here…
