The world is going through the Yugas, which is an Indian term for the different ages: the Golden Age, the Silver Age, the Bronze Age, and the Iron Age. The Golden Age is where infinite intelligence combined with infinite love predominates. It’s where all beings are functioning from their true nature, from effortless being.
What happens, though, is that there’s a decline. It’s best not to think of this in a literal sense—it’s more like a play. Imagine it as a five-act play: the Golden Age, the Silver Age, the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, and then the return to the Golden Age.
We’re currently at the end of the Iron Age and the beginning of the return to the Golden Age. What actually declines from the Golden Age to the Iron Age is love. In the Golden Age, the intelligence that’s operating is divine intelligence—a combination of infinite intelligence and infinite love, which results in infinite harmony and infinite possibilities.
By the time it declines to the current age, which in Hindu terms is called Kali Yuga, a kind of degraded age, the element of love has dissolved. The creation we’re experiencing is based on a combination of intelligence and fear.
As a result, all the structures in this world have become predatory. Beings eat animals, humans eat animals, animals eat each other, they eat plants, and birds eat insects. The reason it’s like that is because this current creation, this three-dimensional world and beyond, isn’t in alignment with divine consciousness.
As Ramana Maharshi describes it, it’s an overgrowth. That’s the reason the mind functions the way it does. Not only is existence predatory from the human level down, it’s also predatory in an energetic sense. It’s as though we’re living in an energy-harvesting system.
The way the energy and potential of humans is compromised is through identification with lower-frequency emotions, in the way Eckhart Tolle describes it. We begin by resting as effortless being, in a state of peace. Then an invitation comes for us to identify with grief, depression, jealousy, fear, or any of those kinds of emotions.
Those emotional patterns are actually tailor-made. It depends on the tendencies that have existed. For instance, there may have been a predominance of anger in your dad, or a predominance of fear in your mum. You learn those modes of behavior because you’re familiar with them.
Before you’re born, all of those tendencies are, in a sense, downloaded into your system so that you’re familiar with them, and you tend to play them out. But you can consciously stop that process.
Join us as we explore how returning to our true nature begins to dissolve them at our next online event…
