Why is it that some people do welcoming and releasing for years or even decades yet they still feel as though they have all this stuff to work through?
When you welcome or release thoughts or emotions, you may get some temporary benefit. It’s only a temporary benefit because it’s actually maintaining the idea that that the thought or emotion is yours. There could be a trigger like your boss saying something to you and then that triggers a mental or emotional reaction. This is an invitation.
Some of the methods which have to do with welcoming or releasing is the idea that because it’s your emotion then you therefore need to welcome it or let it go or whatever. Actually it’s just an invitation for you to identify with it.
A more effective way is to just realize that these emotions and thoughts are invitations. Then you’ll find that declining them becomes easier. After maybe two or three times of the invitation showing up, if you remain neutral rather than identifying with it, then you’ll see that they just dissolve away. You don’t have to process them.
It’s really that there’s a level of consent on some level to the idea that the content (thought/emotion) is their own on a personal level so they need to process it. But the truth is we all remain in our true infinite impersonal nature which is untouched by anything in the personal realm.
It’s much better to establish the clarity of that knowing of our true infinite nature and to not entertain those various invitations–the welcoming, the releasing, the letting go, the fully feeling the feelings. They’re just theme park rides in the dualistic realm.
With love,
David
