When the mind goes quiet, instead of experiencing yourself as a separate mind or separate individual, you begin to experience yourself as a field of awareness. And it’s a single field of awareness.
So the forms arising in that field, which previously were experienced as being separate because of the concept that you’re a separate being with a separate mind, are seen differently. There are these other forms appearing before you, but it’s realizing and seeing that awareness is actually a single field or ocean within which forms appear.
Because the subject-object mode has been turned off, the reason the sound of the voice seems closer is because it’s arising within the field of awareness you’ve always been, rather than through the filter which made it appear otherwise.
Ramana Maharshi puts it in a nice way: “Are you in the world or is the world in you?”
The truth is that the world is arising within us, that we’re the infinite being and the whole world is appearing within us.
“I am the totality of existence.”
And that’s the truth for everyone. We’re all the totality, but we’re having this experience of contrast where we’re pretending that we’re appearing within the world rather than the world appearing within us.
Then the filters are removed.
Join us for our next online event where we’ll explore how the mind creates the experience of separation — and what becomes possible when those filters begin to dissolve.
With love,
