The ego is like a balloon, and we’ve got an air pump in front of us which we can attach to it. We inflate the balloon and it turns into this inflatable scary monster. Then we run around feeling really afraid of it.
But the truth is we don’t need to inflate the balloon because we can just remain as Being; we don’t need to enter into the dualistic mode at all. It’s only when we engage the mind that we enter into the dualistic realm.
The ego doesn’t need to be analyzed, we don’t need to battle with it, we don’t need to feel as though it’s an enemy. The reality is there’s no such thing as the ego because we always remain as the Infinite Being. It’s just that we assume a role–the ego–to function in this world.
But, if we take this moment to function from Effortless Being, it’s just a case of noticing that everything is arising equally. For example, there’s awareness of images on the screen, there’s awareness of sounds arising around you, there’s awareness of the light coming through the window and of the objects in the room. The effortless way to experience that is in a sense of unity where we’re experiencing as an ocean of awareness rather than as an individual.
When we just notice everything arising equally and effortlessly then there is no sense of individuality, no ego. It’s just totally effortless and it’s unified. It could be your mom’s voice or it could be your own voice, but they’re both appearing as waves on this single unified infinite ocean which we remain as. It’s possible to actually experience in that way because that’s unity consciousness. It’s what is here prior to the arising of individuality.
I’ll discuss this in more detail in my next online event. I’d love for you to join me…
With love,
