To really understand the Nature of Awareness, realize that there are three elements: The Knower, The Means of Knowing, and the Known (which is Awareness aware of Itself).
It’s just that the dualistic realm tends to distract us with form, though the formlessness of Awareness is ever-present. But the content arising in the dualistic realm tends to be a distraction because we’ve been conditioned to become involved with dualistic content from birth. So it seems as though that is predominating.
But generally we can begin to reduce the volume in the dualistic realm, which we can do mainly by becoming familiar with Effortless Being. Effortless Being is a field of unity and that field of unity precedes the arising of the dualistic realm.
As we become more and more familiar with unity, then the dualistic realm becomes less attractive. It’s only that we’ve habitually engaged with the dualistic realm.
So, the distinction between the expansion and the contraction is really the key. As we begin to realize that our sovereign nature belongs to our infinite nature, which is Impersonal Being, then we can see that the dualistic realm is optional. Gradually we can see that the content arising in the dualistic realm can be turned off. It’s just that it’s made to seem that we really don’t have control over it.
But gradually it’s quite easy to maintain neutrality because neutrality is there before the arising of dualistic content
With love,
David.
